Fuck yeah, feminists!: “Twilight” as a cautionary... →
Bella is warned by numerous people and events throughout the course of the story that she is actively pursuing her own destruction – but she’s so dependent on Edward and caught up in the idea of the romance that she refuses to see the situation for what it is. Charlie tells her Edward is bad…

dottianne asked: hey uh don't publish this but do you mind using a nsfw tag for stuff that is really explicit like your last post? I mean, it's cool, but I'd like to tumblr saviour it since my dashboard is mostly sfw.

Interviewer: What do you think it says about girls, that so many of them like Tate?
Evan: I think that it’s fascinating. I mean, I think there’s something kind of sexy about Tate. There’s something that’s sexy about a guy who has the strength to kill somebody, but is also vulnerable enough to be in love. It’s just those two sides — like, I don't know why, but women for some reason aren’t attracted to normal guys, like, guys who are in between. But if you really take a step back and look at Tate, he’s insane. The way he loves Violet is creepy; it’s completely unhealthy. But I can see why they are attracted to him: He’s totally in love with Violet. And he’s a gangster.

Karlie Kloss's Healthy Curves
Today, in my internet browsings, I came across an article in the Daily Mail that did nothing but praise over how wonderful model Karlie Kloss looks in her latest Victoria’s Secret photoshoot. While the Mail and it’s commenters lauded Kloss and her “healthy curves,” I looked at her pictures and all I could think was, “my God, she looks like a bookmark.” ...

brilliant idea
My historically based horror movie in which people are the real monsters totally needs to be set in North Korea.

Anonymous asked: In answer to the previous ask: Carrie, Fatal Attraction (not genre horror but has elements), Whatever Happened to Baby Jane has elements of girl-on-girl jealousy, Cracks, The Witches (1966) has the option for a fabulous reading of older women's jealousy of younger women, Ginger Snaps is an easy call but look beyond the sister relationship to Ginger's relationships with other women....

Can anyone recommend any good movies dealing with...
I kind of want to do a post about it, but I can only think of a few movies that deal expressly with how cruel women can be to one another.  It’s great horror fodder, there has to be a bunch of films out there about it!

Anonymous asked: the society for women in philosophy has a list of good sources on feminism and horror. perhaps you should offer a primer/reading/watching list as part of the site (can't link in asks, but its on google)

A Few Observations About Asian Cinema
I’m becoming a big fan of Asian Horror.  Most of it is from Japan and South Korea, but other countries have made their contribution to the genre, as well.  A few things I’ve noticed about it: The stories tend to be creepy, mysterious ghost stories as opposed to the violent gory slasher movies that dominate American horror.  This make a lot of sense because Asian folklore is chock-full...

gorgonetta asked: Hey, I think a few days ago you were soliciting interesting-sounding titles about gender and horror films? I just stumbled across this one: The dread of difference : gender and the horror film, edited by Barry Keith Grant. Sounds interesting.

CONSTANCE: What you’re planning to do is unnatural.
CHAD: Deodorant’s unnatural. But it’s a public good. We’ll make excellent parents.
CONSTANCE: ‘Man shall not lie with man. It is an abomination.’ [Leviticus 18:22]
CHAD: So is that hairdo. But I figure that’s your business.
CONSTANCE: Why can’t ‘you people’ be content with having pets? Why must you subject an innocent child to your perversions?
CHAD: There’s nothing in the studies that says being raised by same sex parents has any ill effects on children. I assume that applies to the formerly living.
CONSTANCE: The only study I know is the study of blood and pain. My children came out of my body and THAT is something that you’ll never be able to understand.
CHAD: Lady, just because you happen to be the hole that they crawled out of doesn’t mean a goddamn thing!
